Abstract

Electron microscopic study of the papillary muscles of the heart in rats with streptozotocin model of type I diabetes revealed widespread changes in cardiomyocytes, their contractile elements, mitochondria as well as intercalated disks. In blood capillaries found degenarativ-destructive changes of endolhelial cells. In general, the changes should be considered as microangiopathy.
